Mount of Olives/ Garden of Gethsemane

Travelled to the other side of Jerusalem today across the Kidron Valley to the Mount of Olives, where we looked back towards the Golden gates and the city of Jerusalem.

Continuing to the Mount of Olives, where we arrived at the Dominus Flevit for Mass. The church was built on the site where Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. ( Luke 19:41-44)
Within the garden was a thorn tree, the branches of which were used to create the crown of thorns.

John18 “After he had said all this, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron valley where there was a garden into which he went with his disciples”

  1. Ouch I don't like the look of that thorn tree lol. On Sunday it was the Baptism of the Lord. I made a connection lol. When Fr read the Gospel then presented homily he spoke about where Jesus had been Baptised by John and I could visualise it thanks to your amazing photos xx
